STICK FIGHTING SYSTEM

Stick fighting number systems are a succinct way to label and remember specific lines of attack, for the purpose of creating an easy to remember system of striking attacks for training drills and instructional purposes.  There is nothing special or significant about our particular numbering system.  It just provides a way to quickly and easily communicate striking patterns or drills from instructor-to-student and training partners.
Attack lines, or lines of attack, describe the pathway the weapon and the weapon-wielding arm will move through space on its way to delivering an attack towards a threat.  The #1 attack line is one of the most basic and primal lines of attack.  It closely resembles the movement patterns of throwing a baseball, serving a volleyball and the overhead smash from tennis.

The #1 attack is overhead forehand attack that travels in a downward angle across the body.   The movement pattern and biomechanics of the #1 attack line will remain the same regardless of the type of weapon (edged, impact, improvised) or grip orientation (forward grip or reverse grip).

With weapon attacking it's important that you know how to throw a full power strike without tweaking your wrist or decelerating your weapon.  In this video you'll see the basic fundamentals of the #1 attack line and  two variations of how to recover quickly and efficiently after launching the #1 attack.

The #1 can be thrown fluid or broken. Think of fluid attacks as hitting your desired target and following through completely. Think of broken attacks as hitting your target and retracting back to your start position.  With impact weapon attacking it's important that you know how to throw a full power strike without tweaking your wrist or decelerating your weapon. In this video you'll see two variations of how to recover quickly and efficiently after launching the #1 attack.
